Ready to ride the wave

Sometimes you find a great neighbourhood, sometimes you make it.

Altree Developments is contributing to the second with their new project, 36 Zorra. The Etobicoke condominium site will help transform a parcel of land at Kipling Avenue and the Queensway, adding to a series of planned projects by multiple developers to create a new residential community out of the warehouse properties.

“It’s on the burgeoning tip of becoming a new major place in that area,” says Zev Mandelbaum, president and CEO of Altree. “A lot of highrise buildings are coming there, along with a lot of amenities. It’s becoming a community.”

Altree is getting ready to launch the 35-storey building, which will feature a mix of 460 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. And Mandelbaum expects to see just as much of a mix in terms of the people who buy there, from millennials looking for more affordable options to downtown, to downsizers and young families.

“The dream of having a white picket fence and a single-detached home is not necessarily today’s dream anymore,” the developer says. “Today’s dream is to live in a building that has all the amenities at your fingertips.”
